Live on the Dishing with Donna radio show, Atlanta's only radio show focused on food, wine and restaurants.  Atlanta Restaurant Broker Robin Gagnon is joined by Next Food Network Star Herb Mesa to discuss what's happening in the Atlanta restaurant market.  The good news is that multiple operators are reporting huge sales gains in the marketplace.  Once restaurant owner reported a sales increase of 37% over last August in his two midtown and vinings sandwich shop locations.  Another operator in Perimeter reported a sales gain of 24% in July and 28% in August.  A pizza shop owner also reported sales that are returning to 2008 levels. 

What's driving the strong results?  According to these Atlanta owners, everyone senses a change in the air with elections just around the corner.  What does is mean for the Atlanta restaurant buyer?  Sales are not a predictor of pricing in the market but top line sales delivered while operators have been getting leaner and leaner on the expense line will lead to bottom line profit.  That factors into the pricing of a restaurant.  Buyers should focus now on the opportunities because pricing may never be better and with strong results, we can see a rise in prices over the coming months (potentially fourth quarter).
